Sleepy Farms Dewatering: Specialty Project

There are very few contractors that perform dewatering. However, it was our competitive pricing that set us at the forefront of the Sleepy Farms Dewatering project. This case involved a general contractor seeking assistance with dewatering, the installation of a list station, approximately 1,500 LF of deep sewer, and a water table that needed to be lowered by 15 feet to allow for the work to take place. Upon accepting the bid, our team recognized several immediate concerns, starting with the need to obtain licensing with the State of New Mexico in order to perform the work we had been hired to do. This came in addition to the inclement rainy season we would have to endure and the tricky location of the project with high volumes of public traveling, local resident access, and limited right of way.

Once we obtained licensing, we subcontracted the deeper portions of the project and prepared and maintained a supervision plan to oversee the dewatering periods. The results were not only successful, but highly profitable. We provided 31 deep wells between 30’ to 50’ in depth while lowering the static water table to 2’ below construction invert elevations and capped all wells at completion before providing our reporting documents to the New Mexico Department of Energy.
