Meridian Contracting is a regional leader in heavy civil construction across New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado. Our work supports critical infrastructure—from flood control and road building to utilities and mining support—and we take pride in doing it right. We are seeking a Traffic Control Supervisor to lead safe, efficient traffic management around our active job sites in and around Albuquerque. You’ll play a vital role in protecting both workers and the public while ensuring projects stay compliant and on schedule.
Lead and oversee traffic control operations for road construction and infrastructure projects
Develop and implement Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) that meet local and state safety requirements
Supervise and train traffic control crews, ensuring proper setup of signs, cones, and barriers
Perform routine site inspections to ensure compliance and equipment functionality
Coordinate with local authorities, emergency responders, and internal teams to minimize traffic disruptions
Monitor and maintain traffic control devices, signage, and safety equipment
Accurately document traffic operations, incidents, and equipment usage
Respond quickly to unexpected site issues and adapt plans as needed
Uphold Meridian’s culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism
Start the day by reviewing the daily work zone plans and crew deployment needs
Coordinate with site managers to align traffic control setup with construction phasing
Inspect ongoing control zones for compliance with regulations and public safety
Adjust signage and flow patterns to accommodate changing job site conditions
Train new flaggers and ensure all team members follow safety protocols
Record field conditions, incident reports, and equipment usage logs for project documentation
Wrap up by confirming safe takedown procedures and preparing for the next day’s traffic plans
Zero safety incidents or public complaints related to traffic control
Accurate and compliant traffic control setups per plan
Timely coordination with field teams to minimize downtime or delay
Equipment maintained in safe, working order
High confidence from project teams in TCS leadership and response
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification
OSHA training or other safety certifications (preferred)
Minimum 2 years of experience in traffic control, flagging, or site safety oversight
Strong working knowledge of MUTCD standards and local traffic regulations
Experience supervising flagging teams and coordinating with public entities
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
Physically able to work outdoors in variable weather and on your feet throughout the shift
