🏢 About the Opportunity:

Meridian Contracting is a leading heavy civil contractor operating across Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. We specialize in delivering complex infrastructure projects—including earthwork, flood control, road building, structural concrete, and mining-related support. We are seeking a hybrid Estimator/Project Manager to lead project delivery from preconstruction through closeout. You’ll work closely with clients, engineers, and internal teams to ensure bids are competitive and execution is seamless.

Preference will be given to candidates currently based in Arizona or open to relocating.

✅ Successful Team Members in This Role Will…

• Lead the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects—from estimating and bidding through scheduling and execution
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
• Submit competitive bid proposals and support business development strategy
• Collaborate with superintendents and field teams to maintain schedule, budget, and safety compliance
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the project
• Monitor project performance, track progress, and manage change orders
• Identify and mitigate risk factors affecting scope, cost, or timelines
• Ensure quality standards, contract compliance, and regulatory requirements are met
• Maintain accurate reporting for internal leadership and client stakeholders

🛠️ A Day in the Life of an Estimator/Project Manager:

• Start the day reviewing bid opportunities or current project status updates
• Attend pre-bid walkthroughs or project site visits as needed
• Perform quantity takeoffs and evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotes
• Lead client calls or internal progress meetings
• Manage submittals, RFIs, and coordination with project engineers
• Monitor budget and prepare forecast updates
• Wrap up by updating bid files or project reports

• Projects delivered on time, within budget, and to spec
• Positive client feedback and repeat business opportunities
• Effective handoff from preconstruction to field operations
• Timely and accurate financial and progress reporting

🧰 Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy civil construction project management and/or estimating
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects (e.g., roadways, bridges, utilities, stormwater)
• Proficiency in estimating and project management software (e.g., Procore, HCSS, Primavera, MS Project)
• Strong understanding of construction means/methods, sequencing, and cost control
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
• PMP certification (preferred)
• Willingness to travel and relocate as needed
