Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Superintendent to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our heavy civil construction projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring that work is performed according to project plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Safety Management: Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and training to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Quality Control: Monitor construction work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications. Address any issues related to quality and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of field personnel, including laborers, equipment operators, and subcontractors. Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Scheduling: Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time. Address any delays or schedule changes promptly and effectively.
  • Budget Management: Oversee project expenditures and ensure that work is completed within budget. Track and report on project costs, and manage change orders as necessary.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, project managers, and subcontractors. Facilitate effective communication and address any project-related concerns.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve issues that arise on-site, including technical challenges, resource shortages, and unforeseen conditions. Implement solutions to keep the project on track.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of project activities, including daily reports, inspection reports, and progress updates. Ensure all documentation is complete and up-to-date.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale heavy civil projects, including highways, bridges, and utilities.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, and safety standards.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
