Recruiter/Human Resources Manager

Meridian Engineering is an industry leading general contractor in heavy civil construction & engineering; with locations and projects in multiple states, is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Recruiting & Human Resource Manager. Primary function of this job is the recruitment and staffing of construction field, engineering, project managers, project engineers and other team members to support our growing company.

Job details / Essential Functions:

  • Experience in HR recruitment for the construction trades, mining, and commercial drivers is a highly desired.
  • Develop effective recruitment strategies. Includes attending career fairs, expos, trade events & establishing professional recruiting networks.
  • Understanding of state and federal employment labor laws.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and standards of human resources administration, and management of employment and employee relations.
  • Perform orientations, onboarding, update records for new hires.
  • Review and develop effective strategies for orientation & on-boarding experience utilizing technology and in-person techniques.
  • Review and develop job descriptions and compensation ranges.
  • Review and update company policies.
  • Coordinate employee reviews with division managers.
  • Analysis of organizations vitality by conducting research addressing issues related to HR and develop programs to resolve issues.
  • Be a liaison for employees.
  • Maintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in both paper and the database and ensure all employment requirements are met.
  • Liaise with other departments or functions (payroll, benefits, safety, etc.)
  • Produce and submit reports on general HR activity to VP of Meridian.
  • Support other functions as assigned.

Skills:

  • Proven experience as an HR Manager or relevant human resources/administrative position
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
  • Strong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
  • Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems (e.g. Virtual Edge)
  • In-depth understanding of sourcing tools, like resume databases and online communities
  • Familiarity with social media recruiting
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • CIPD, SPHR or PHR certification is desired.
  • BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; additional education in Human Resource Management will be a plus

Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to travel, occasionally, to jobsites, and other states.
  • Knowledge of OSHA required, MSHA is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier.
  • Excellent written or verbal communication skills.
  • Technology savvy.
  • Enjoys working with other managers, horizontally and vertically.
